This rare and hard to find press kit was never seen before till Carlene Thie showed the Original Copy that her Grandfather saved from 1955.
When the Disney executives came to Carlene Thie’s home to use some of Mell Kilpatrick’s photos for Disneyland’s 50th Anniversary they were surprise to see an Original 1955 Disneyland Press kit.
(This press kit was handed to the Media on July 17, 1955 ( Media Only).
When the Company asked to purchase this one of a kind Disneyland press kit, Carlene Thie agreed. The Disney Company did not have an Original 1955 press kit, and so dearly wanted to have this copy for the 50th Anniversary as well as their archives.
The gentleman who were at Carlene’s home were trying to think of ideas how to promote the press kit. Carlene came up with the idea of mailing it out to the media “as lost in the mail”. She felt that would be a fun idea to promote the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland.
So 50 years later Carlene Thie, was invited to “Disneyland’s 50th Anniversary Press Day” in 2005. She was then handed a copy of her grandfathers press kit from 1955!
